Your contribution helps us expand understanding of global affairs and America’s role in the world by:

  • Bringing leading authorities to our community
  • Sponsoring lively discussions with foreign policy and economic experts on today’s headlines
  • Awarding college study abroad scholarships
  • Engaging the public in world events

In today’s chaotic world, first-hand knowledge and in-person conversation are more critical than ever.

With limited resources and only 2 full-time staff, we work hard to bring you timely programs with renowned speakers.

Your gift will allow us to continue to host more than 25 programs each year under the AR, Forum and Great Decisions banners, as well as the Norman Woodberry Scholarship. Thank you for your commitment to staying engaged in the global issues that affect us all, and for your support of the World Affairs Forum!

FORUM SERIES

Our Forum Series consists of four evening programs at the Ferguson Library in downtown Stamford. Sponsor information is included in the press release. Sponsors are invited to display signage at the event, and are given the opportunity to introduce the speaker to the audience.

GREAT DECISIONS

Great Decisions, a program of the Foreign Policy Association in New York, is free and open to the public. Two presentations are held at Norwalk Library in the fall and two at the Greenwich Library in the spring. A briefing book is offered for sale at these presentations which covers the critical world affairs topics of the year, on which these presentations are based. Read more about Great Decisions at the FPA website.

NORMAN WOODBERRY SCHOLARSHIP

The Norman Woodberry scholarships are awarded to deserving university students interested in pursuing an international career, to support their ability to study abroad. Recipients are either studying or residing in Fairfield County, CT or Westchester County, NY. Read more about this program on our Education page.

SPECIAL EVENTS

The Forum runs various special events as opportunities arise throughout the season.  These events often are the result of a unique opportunity to hear from a senior government official, ranking diplomat, best-selling author or other special speaker on short notice.

We also have established annual special events like our Global Economic Trends Lecture, the Marie Hurley Travel Lecture, and WorldQuest.
